Asthma is the most common chronic disease in industrialized countries with approximately 300 million people worldwide currently suffering from the disease.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a common, progressive disorder of increasing prevalence in industrialized countries. COPD is actually an umbrella term encompassing chronic obstructive bronchitis and emphysema.
